Enrich your dog's life and your own by finding new ways to have fun together. Look for activities and events or create your own. Life is too short, and your beloved dog is too special not to make the best of every day. Keep reading to learn more.

Bring New Goodies into Your Lives

Who does not enjoy getting things in the mail? You surely do, and your dog probably will, too, with a monthly subscription box of curated treats, accessories, toys, and more. Whether your little friend is hard on their toys (read: chews them into pieces) and requires a fresh supply each month or they will simply relish a new toy and treats delivered straight to their front door, dog subscription boxes offer needed items along with all of the fun that goes along with them.

Remember, these subscription boxes are just as much for you as for your furry companion. After all, you are the one opening the box every month. (Unless, of course, your dog has opposable thumbs.) It will be so much fun to reach your hands into the box to see what fun things have arrived. Naturally, your dog will probably have its cute muzzle right in there with you as they sniff and root around the box - because they will know it is just for them. Let the fun begin!

Have a Pet Party

Whether it is your dog’s birthday or not, a pet party is an invitation to fun. Invite your friends who have (well-mannered) dogs and make it an event. Ideally, this will be an outside soiree, but if the weather is not cooperating, move the party indoors and make it a smaller affair that includes a few select friends and their calm companions.

If you are able to have your pet party outdoors, a fenced-in backyard is the perfect setting. Put out plenty of water bowls, and be sure to refresh them frequently. You can even put name placards on each bowl to avoid cross-contamination amongst the pups. Place outdoor throw pillows in shaded areas near human chairs and benches so everyone can sit and rest in comfort. Add canisters of treats and a scattering of tennis balls and toys, and you are all set for a fun afternoon of playful dogs and friendly humans gathered together.

Have a Photo Shoot

Being a dedicated pet parent, you probably already have a lot of photos of your beloved pet on your phone and around your house, but why not have more? You should have a photo shoot with your dog. Do it inside your home, in the backyard, or find a perfect scenic setting, such as a lush local park.

You can do this at the previously mentioned pet party or as a stand-alone activity. Include your friends, or make it a smile-inducing event for you and your dog. Make sure you have plenty of silly props, such as oversized sunglasses, feather boas, costumes, uniforms, hats, and anything else you can think of, to add some extra joy.

Sign Up for an Agility Class

You have probably seen dog shows on TV in which dogs run and zoom across your screen without missing a beat. The dogs compete for prizes and seem to have an innate ability to know exactly how to navigate an agility course and listen to commands in perfect rhythm with their humans. If these antics and abilities interest you, consider signing you and your dog up for a local agility class. These classes are great ways to work on listening skills, learn how to follow commands, and expend extra energy, all while creating an even better bond between the two of you.

If your dog is not inclined to leap over obstacles just for the sake of doing so, consider a different type of class, such as simple training commands like sit and stay or shake hands, high five, and rollover. Even older dogs can learn new tricks - their parents can, too.
