Girls and Their Cats - New Book Release!

By BriAnne Wills, with Elyse Moody; Foreword by Molly Young

8 x 10 in, 176 pp; hardcover; full-color photographs throughout

$24.95  Available August 20, 2019

“Time spent with a cat is never wasted,” said Colette. Photographer BriAnne Wills agrees and has made her mark documenting others who feel the same. In her new book, Girls and Their Cats, she spotlights 50 women from across the country who, like the cats they share their lives with, are strong, independent, and unique.

There are no “crazy cat ladies” here. Instead, Willis and co-author Elyse Moody chronicle love stories from actors, sculptors, writers, designers, and other creatives who find that cats make ideal co-pilots in life. From Los Angeles to New York, and places in-between, Willis introduces us to a kaleidoscope of cat lovers:

  • Hannah Shaw: humane educator, animal advocate, and founder of the neonatal kitten rescue project Kitten Lady, with her cats Coco & Eloise
  • Christene Barberich: cofounder of Refinery29, with Phoebe
  • Maria Hinojosa: anchor and executive producer of NPR’s Latino USA, with Miko & Safiya
  • Erica Chidi Cohen: doula, author, and cofounder of reproductive health education company Loom, with Nima

Interspersed throughout are amusing lists any cat lady will find relatable, from “How to Catproof Your Home” to “Things You Get Better at Because You Have a Cat,” as well as an adoption resource guide and a list of rescue organizations in the U.S. and Canada. This stunning visual collection celebrates the powerful bond between a girl and her cat, and is the catnip that feline lovers will find irresistible.
