Delicious Dog Treat Recipe To Spoil Your Pooch!
February 22, 2017
This recipe is timely as tomorrow is International Dog Biscuit Appreciation Day. I'm not joking. February 23rd is a big day in my books. I love dogs. Dogs love doggie biscuits. Hence, celebrating treats that make our dogs happy is worthy in my books. Having the Pet Business Planning Almanack allows me to know these special dates. And I have a lot more up my blogging sleeve!
Back to the celebration of doggie biscuits. The super nice peeps at SimpleWag.com reached out to me with this special recipe that is easy to make and packed with healthy goodness. And what's super cool, is that the recipe is from a real chef!
As a seasoned chef at the TRIO restaurant in downtown Austin, TX, Chef Amanda Pallagi-Naim, shares her recipes with countless of guests, including those of the doggy variety. Amanda is sharing her all-natural drool-worthy dog treat recipe with all the pet owners out there who want to spoil their pet.
Gourmet Dog Bones Recipe
By Chef Pallagi-Naim
In a mixer fitted with a paddle attachment, mix all of the dry ingredients together. In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients. Add the wet ingredients to the dry and mix until homogeneous. Dough should be dry, but should come together. Add buttermilk if the dough needs a bit more moisture.
Roll to ¼ inch thickness and cut out shapes using a dog bone cookie cutter. Place on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake at 325 degrees F for 45 minutes or until the dog bones feel hard and dry. Cool and store in an airtight container for up to one week or freeze up to one month.
