Smiling Dog Coffee Co - "Every Cup Helps a Pup!"

  SmilingDogLogoCFAC (2)

(I recently discovered this gem of a company and asked them share with me and my readers what they're all about.  I love coffee....I love dogs..... So it was a no-brainer that I asked them.  Thank you Erick & Marlene Kanter for having such a cool business and for making a difference at the same time)

Smiling Dog Coffee Co was founded on our love of coffee and dogs.  We saw the need for help with donations that all rescues are in desperate need of through friends and family that work with rescue organizations. The amount of time and money it takes them to try and help as many animals as possible is staggering.  We put a plan together to try and come up with some fundraising ideas so they could get more donations to help at least one more get the second chance they deserve at a good life. Then one day it clicked while making a morning cup of coffee, who doesn't love coffee and dogs!
This crazy idea and our love of coffee lead us on a year long search to find a roaster that could provide and excellent cup of coffee not only in bags but for our private label single serve k-cups. This proved difficult as there are not many willing to roast for a private label and also having faith in our cause. We are proud to have found one that the owners also have rescued dogs and are also concerned about the environment with their Rain Forest Alliance certification as well as being USDA Organic and Kosher!
There are many coffees out there but we wanted to make sure we had a quality gourmet coffee so people would come back over and over again to continue to help us support our rescue partners.

With our roasts and blends selected we were ready to reach out to rescue organizations with our "Coffee for a Cause" campaign and was overwhelmed but the response from them. Most rescues had the same thought as us, who wouldn't enjoy a great cup of coffee while knowing a portion of that cup goes to help a rescue dog in need.

Our first rescue to come on board was the Bickell Foundation. Bryan plays for the Chicago Blackhawks and his foundation rescues and re-homes "pitbull" type breeds in the Chicago area. Other rescues soon followed and we are now proud to be able to help about a dozen rescues throughout the country gain an extra source of income every month. From pilots who donate their time and planes to fly rescues across the country through Pilots N Paws, a mother/daughter team that rescues death row dogs that most wouldn't look at twice at Feeling Fine Canine Rescue, to rescues that help our soldiers either bring home befriended dogs during their tour through Puppy Rescue Mission or deal with coming back home and PTSD with Pits for Patriots. We also work with a local rescue "A Pathway to Hope" to help foster as well. Their stories and our many other partners are what inspired us to create this small family coffee company so we could give back to them for all their tireless work and caring.
For every purchase we give back 25% of the proceeds directly to them. As we say, every cup helps a pup.
