Help The SPCA Make a Difference - Enjoy the Warmth of Mexico

National dog day 2

(Oscar just can't decide what hat to wear.  I'm thinking the matching ones)

Today is a pretty good day to celebrate, being National Dog Day happening all around the world. A good time to reflect on what it means to be a dog mom and a pet blogger, both things that I love being.

My life is going through some changes these days (not just menopause and that could be a post in and of itself) but as far as where I am living and the general direction I am taking.  I am so darn grateful to have the love of my fur kid and reap the rewards of taking care of a little four-legged soul.  And I am also very grateful to be a pet blogger who is able to reach out to pet lovers everywhere and hopefully make a difference to the animals who are alone and suffering.

Last January I had the pleasure of visiting and falling in love with an animal sanctuary in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico.  The many staff and volunteers at the SPCA PV work endlessly to save lives and give hope to what must be thousands of cats and dogs over the time they have operated.   They have had a very, very busy summer caring for the animals and are in desperate need of funds to cover the basics of food and medicine.  When they post photos of recent rescues, they always write: "You are safe and you are loved!"  Which is so true.

Pv visit

In the quarantine area where new dogs and cats are placed, visitors are required to wear smock and shoe covers to prevent the transfer of germs to other animals.  The systems in place for care in this shelter are stellar.

They have just announced a very exciting Fundraiser with Raffle tickets only $35 and just 350 tickets being issued.  Here is the information on how you can possibly win an incredible prize while helping them carry out their mission to save lives.

We are in desperate need to raise money for our no-kill sanctuary.  The summer months are particularly difficult for us as there are limited donations from tourists visiting town.  We hope all of our friends will be unable to resist purchasing a raffle ticket (or two!) and help us raise money so we can continue our efforts to help these animals.

The winner of the raffle will receive a 7-night stay at the Hacienda San Angel Hotel in Puerto Vallarta, and a $1,500 cash airfare credit.   The Hacienda San Angel is a gorgeous boutique hotel here in town.  If you are unfamiliar with the hotel, check out their website at www.haciendasanangel.com.

 This hotel is breathtaking!

I welcome everyone to get in on the raffle before all the tickets are gone!   And on a side note, they are ALWAYS looking for foster and furever families for the many cats and dogs.  If you are in the Puerto Vallarta area, you can visit the sanctuary (More information on their website) Canadian travellers also have the opportunity to be Wings of Angels, by transporting animals back to Canada.  (They take care of all the expense and paperwork)  Last January I brought back a sweet dog, Cosmo, to a loving family not far from where I live.
