Caring for Pets in Hot Weather - Infographic
July 01, 2013
Today we celebrated Canada Day.... 146 Years Old. (We don't look a day over 130) Birds were chirping, music played at the local park's bandstand, people out on bicycles, not a cloud in the sky. But man was it ever toasty!!! I live in the Okanagan Valley, what we like to call the "California of Canada". When it comes to breaking heat temperature records for the country, we always come out on top. Today might have very well been a hot contender.
Speaking of heat.....I found this wonderful Infographic from Daily Infographic, packed full of information on how to best care for your pets in hot weather. Saddens me terribly knowing dogs and cats suffer due to the carelessness of their owners. I myself carry a hammer in my vehicle in case I ever have to smash a car window to rescue a dog in the heat. And I will use it!
So my walk today with Oscar (aka Sir Fetch-a-lot) was an early one to beat the heat. Lots of pet parents had the same idea as I have never seen so many people and their pups at the dog park at 7:00 a.m. (I always wear a ball cap to cover up my bed-head. So darn clever am I)
Today I took along a simple accessory I received from the nice peeps at The BagBag Com. It attaches right on the leash handle and holds several poopie bags. (Or as I say with a lame french accent, Zee bags for zee poopies). My shorts don't have pockets so it's hard carrying my mandatory morning java, hold the leash and plastic bags all at the same time. There is enough room in there for coins and a drivers license. (Probably a Starbucks card too for all of you coffee junkies) Very handy! As they say, there is Beauty in Simplicity.
I am including the second one they sent me in a gift basket for the next local humane society fundraiser. The lucky winner will get a lot of use out of it I'm sure.
Be sure to check out their fun colorful website and follow them on Facebook and Twitter.
Stay cool my friends! And look even cooler with a spiffy poop bag holder from TheBagBag.com
