Petcurean Pet Nutrition - The Company with a Big Heart
March 24, 2013
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending the Global Pet Expo in Orlando, Florida - an incredible tradeshow of all things pets. The equivalent of 16 football fields in fact. A definite mecca for a professional pet blogger like myself.
Back home in my community of Vernon, BC, I am involved in a pet food bank program held at the Upper Room Mission, a drop-in facility for the needy. The Pet Soup Kitchen of Vernon gives out cat and dog food every second tuesday of the month and the demand is growing, as more and more people with low incomes struggle to feed their pets. The homeless and those on social assistance love their pets just as much as those who can afford them and by offering complimentary food, it lessens their burden. We rely on the generosity of the community to supply pet food and treats for the program to continue.
While at Global Pet Expo, several times I "tweeted" out using the expo hash-tag, asking companies for donation for our Pet Soup Kitchen program, in the form of prizes for our fund-raising auction and/or vouchers for food purchases. Of my 21,000 Twitter followers and the countless number of vendors at the Expo, Petcurean was the only company that responded and with full enthusiasm. A couple of of weeks later I received three fantastic prizes for our fundraisers and vouchers for 3 x 25 pound bags of pet food. Thank you Petcurean!
Here's a little information about them: (Italics are my musings)
Founded in 1999, Petcurean Pet Nutrition is a Canadian-based, family-owned company, based in Chilliwack, British Columbia, that’s dedicated to selling nutritionally balanced, unique pet food recipes made with high quality, natural and fresh ingredients. (Go Canada!)
The Petcurean name speaks to the people behind the company. They are Epicureans who put the same love and care into creating meals for pets as they would preparing dinner for their own families, because they are pet owners too. (Pets deserve "meals" too - not just food)
Petcurean creates recipes no one has thought of before, using the best market-fresh meats, veggies, fruits, herbs and berries, inspired by creativity, passion, purpose and an overarching love for cats and dogs. (Sounds deeeeeelicious!)
They have a very clever tool on their website to help you choose the best "food fit" for your dog or cat. The Intuitive Online Food Selector takes the guessing out of buying quality food and avoiding the hit and miss when it comes to nutrition.
They also have a blog, a popular Facebook page and you can follow them on Twitter too!
Thanks you again Petcurean for answering the "call" to help us with the Pet Soup Kitchen of Vernon!
The right quality of pet food is very needed these days to ensure that our dear pets get what they deserve, however there are commercialize dog food that don't contain the right amount of nutrition (I will just not mention them). It is very important for us pet owners to go to some pet expo or other pet events wherein we can find so many choices on the right kind of kibble that our dog should be eating.

Petcurean was recommended to me a couple of years ago by a pet nutritionist. I've been using it ever since. My dog has a sensitive stomach, and he loves it.
I'm so happy they stepped up. I like a company that does that. This raised my opinion of them (as if it could go any higher).
Way to go Petcurean.

Thanks Amy! I was so happy they stepped forward. Says a lot about a company. The demand for the pet food is really growing. We have been on the radio too talking about the program, which has helped build awareness.
p.s. Love following your adventures on the road with your dogs. Living the dream, my friend. You're living the dream.
