Love Always Wags Its Tail ~ Delightful book for dog lovers

Love always wags

I started blogging several years ago as a way of promoting my online publishing business.  (Which I still have but am now focusing much moreso on my blogging career).  I named my blog The Pet Book Lady, featuring projects people could create using the system along with articles of interest on pet-related topics.

I am now The Pet Blog Lady and my blog is all about pets and not about my business. (Although I manage to sneak a display ad onto the sidebar).  When I sported the Pet Book Lady name, many people assumed I either wrote books, published books to the masses or was a book reviewer.   So I have had many, many, many (did I mention many?) books sent to me over the past few years, all pet related.  I have a library that any pet lover would drool over.

Love Always Wags Its Tail - The Dogs That Changes My Life is one of THE most delightful books that has crossed my path as a blogger.  Written by Kathy H. Porter, the book is a collection of 12 very thoughtful and well written essays about the dogs that have changed her life.  It was published on December 21, 2012 and in just 5 days, became an Amazon Best Seller in two categories: pets & essays.  I can see why.

I have never written a book (I have illustrated a children's book) nor am I an expert on what's considered professional vs non-professional writing.  So doing a "book review" isn't my domain or right.  But I know I love dogs and I truly recognize the incredible bond people have with them.  And Kathy has definitely captured that undeniable connection through her book. And I know I'm reading a good book when I read one!

Jasper

One of the essays titled "A Letter to my Husband's Mistress" is about a very regal great dane named Jasper.  The piece starts out "Dear Jasper,  There's a famous line from a movie where the woman looks at the man and says (in her sexy voice) "You had me from hello".  Well, my canine friend, you had him from the moment you were born."   Kathy continues to describe her observations on how Jasper behaves around her husband and how out of sorts he is when he's absent.  It is such a sweet, endearing essay.

What makes it even more tender is that yesterday, March 8th, they made the very tough decision to send Jasper to the Rainbow Bridge.  As she says on her Facebook page, his spirit was there but his physical body was failing fast.  My heart goes out to Kathy and her husband as the grieve their beloved Jasper.
